So my one week off has turned into two, and I can't do it anymore. It's way to easy to sit on the couch and make an excuse not to get up; so I refuse to do sit any longer. Besides, I'm not faster than many people; but I'm always faster than those on the couch.
So off I go.
Problem is, I waited until 3 o' clock in the afternoon to do so. I've obviously lost brain cells by not exercising and forgotten how miserable it can be out there. I had all these grandiose plans of running for a couple of hours, and just enjoying myself on a leisurely run in my hood. Reality set in pretty quickly as I stepped outside and ran for about 10 minutes. It was hot. Not only was it hot, but the cool breeze I felt this morning was gone and there was virtually no shade since the sun was beating down directly above me.
I did have music which is good, because it would give me a distraction; but it's hard to ignore heat. I got a good mile in and then came round a more wooded area, still with no shade. And then as to get me out of my daze and possibly to keep me from passing out, a lizard kamikaze jumped right in front of me! I'm only glad he didn't land on me. That may have been too much to take.
I ran another mile, a little slower than the first and then started my way back to my house. By the time I reached it, I was at 2.5 miles. Not what I had in mind when I started, but I was happy to be out there again and break my slacker mode.
I plan on using the rest of my spring break to get a couple of good runs in and catch up on some Zumba. And since I'm alone in my air-conditioned house, I may turn on Just Dance and get my groove on before dinner with Tiffany.
